Selling digital products on your blog can be a great way to increase the profit you bring in.

There are many reasons to start selling digital products on your blog. Like no needing to ship anything, very minimal startup costs, and passive income once everything is set up.

How to Sell Digital Products on Your Blog

First, you will need to have your blog up and running. If you haven’t started your blog yet, you can follow my step by step guide that will get you started with your blog on SiteGround.

Once you have your blog set up, you will need an e-commerce platform so you can take payments and get your digital product to your customers.

There are several options for this.

I use SendOwl for selling my digital products, and love the simplicity that they bring to getting your digital products to your customers.

SendOwl is designed specifically for selling digital products, and their service is inexpensive compared to other platforms. All you have to do is sign up for an account with SendOwl and upload your digital file, then you can start selling it as soon as you want.

The other platform I recommend, especially if you choose to go with selling online courses, is Teachable.

Teachable is a great platform where you can host your courses. I personally love to see when a blogger is using Teachable for their course, because it’s just my one account for that platform and I can see everything, no having to remember different logins for a different blogger’s course.

You can sign up with Teachable here and try them out for free at first.

Other options are available also. Many of the digital products that you can sell online can be sold on Etsy. Most products in the graphic design area can be sold on platforms like Creative Market.

Another very popular choice for selling digital products among eCommerce entrepreneurs is Shopify.

eBooks

eBooks are great digital products to sell online. They are easy to make and sell very well.

No matter what blogging niche you are in you can write an eBook to go in that blog niche.

The price range will vary on eBooks, from shorter ones usually selling for $7 and some going beyond $50. It will all depend on the amount of information you are providing to your customers and length of the book.

Online Courses

Courses like eBooks are where you can share your knowledge and teach your readers.

Online courses can be on just about anything. You can even sell one on how to play the guitar if you wanted.

Just make sure you are teaching your audience something valuable.

Teachable is a great platform to host your courses.

And price ranges for courses vary greatly, mainly it is based on the amount of content that is in the course, the value that you are providing, along with the value that your customers will get out of the course.

Craft Patterns

Are you a craft blogger?

Just about any craft has patterns for people to make things. And you can make your own and sell these online.

Some ideas for craft patterns are:

  • Crochet Patterns
  • Knitting Patterns
  • Cross Stitch Patterns
  • Sewing Patterns

Many craft bloggers who sell these will use Etsy, but you can also use SendOwl, or even set up your own store with Shopify.

Swipe Files

Swipe files are usually in PDF format, and they are just a template that has an effective formula for things like email copy, sales page copy, email list sequences etc.

They are very helpful to busy entrepreneurs who need to be able to get content to their customers and don’t always have the time to come up with new things off the top of their heads.

So if you are good at things like email marketing or copywriting then you can sell pre-written swipe files as a digital product on your blog.

Social Media Templates

Social media templates are very popular.

Businesses, bloggers, and influencers are under tons of pressure to keep fresh content flowing on social media accounts. And social media templates help them do this in a fraction of the time.

Some examples of social media templates are BluChic’s Canva Social Media Templates or my Pinterest Pin Templates.

Business or Legal Templates

If you have any business or legal experience and credentials, then this is a great opportunity for selling digital products online.

Bloggers and business owners need contract templates and other legal templates for their websites and blogs.

A few examples of legal templates are BloggingForNewBloggers.com’s Website Legal Bundle or ASelfGuru’s Legal Bundle.

Stock Photos

Stock photos are needed by tons of website and blog owners and even social media influencers.

If you have a knack for photography then making stock photos to sell is a great option as a digital product to sell online.

With stock photos, you can create a membership site or sell the photos in packs or individually through SendOwl or Shopify. If you prefer a more hands off approach to selling them you can also use sites like CreativeMarket to sell your photos through.

Logos

Logos are another graphic design element you can sell as a digital product.

If you like creating things for people you can also sell a custom package where you design something specifically to their tastes.

Fonts

Another graphic design digital product you can sell are fonts.

People like to have different fonts to use for their social media images, advertising, their website design, or even their own digital products they are selling.

Presets

Presets are used by many for making those awesome looking Instagram worthy photos.

That makes presets highly sought after by many using social media.

Printables

Printables are one of the most popular digital products that many bloggers sell.

And that is mainly because sooooo much can fit in this category.

You can sell worksheets, planners, checklists, kid activity pages or books, even adult coloring pages. The list goes on and on for printables that you can sell online and make a profit with.

WordPress Themes

If you like to design and do some coding then making WordPress Themes might be right for you when it comes to selling digital products.

One example of a blogger that makes and sells WordPress themes is BluChic.

Just remember that with WordPress you will have to make sure to stay ontop of any updates you will need to do to your themes. So this can be a bit less of a passive income digital product than ebooks, printables, and other digital goods.

WordPress Plugins

If you’re into coding then WordPress plugins are another option for techy digital products you can sell on your blog.

And like WordPress themes, you will have to make sure you stay ontop of updating any plugins you make.

One great thing with making WordPress plugins is that as a blogger, you know what’s available and you know what bloggers need so you might be able to create something that many bloggers will love.

Which Digital Product Is Best To Sell On My Blog?

Many bloggers will recommend eBooks to start off with when it comes to selling digital products.

I personally started with Pinterest templates on this blog. It was a bit easier for me to come up with templates than an entire book right off the bat.

My second pick would be printables if I was to make another product at this time.

But like anything, opinions are different depending on who you talk to. So picking the best digital product to sell will be a completely individual choice that you need to make. You might be better at coding than writing or designing, so a plugin might be best.

Just pick what comes natural to you and build upon that.

Your first product will be the hardest leap you will make when creating your digital products.
